A sucky end to a great night
Yesterday nominations closed for the upcoming election and yes I got mine in, so provisionaly I am once again running (although I don't see any reason why things should be any different). I also found out who else was was running for what, but since I'm not entirely sure what I can and cannot say at this point I'll leave the details of that till later.

Anyway after the traditional candidates meeting thing myself, Saz, Jon, Sammy and later Statto went round to the house of Dows for a round of drinking games before we alties headed off to the Crown for the usual fun and games. Surprisingly enough we managed to get Dows and Statto to come along for the ride and despite the fact that Statto repeated stated how out of place he felt the two lasted the long haul and I think they had a god night.

As always Dougie was there, as was former Override lead singer Ste... just one member short of a reunion ah! Morwood also put in a late appearance and to memmence surprise so did Taz, apparently he was dragged out by a coursemate. Ali also finaly came good on a promise he made to me a while ago to come down and brought Rich and Vasso with him, so we had quite a sizeable group by the end of the night. Although Ali's appearance does mean that I think I have to go to a Rap/R 'n B night, it's only fair right?

as the night continued everyone was having fun but I was becoming increasingly aware of a group of guys sat near to us who were getting quite drunk. From the way they were treated by the bouncers at the Crown myself and Dougie theorised that they too must by bouncers who were off work. Anyway things took a turn for the worse when one of them came up to me...

"Oi mate can I borrow your glasses?"

Now it may not have been the best thing to do but I said no. Hell anyone who knows, me knows I'm as bling as a bat without these things so there was no way I was giving them up. But as I said this guy was drunk and was quite pushy, so I did the only sensible thing and walked away, only for him to follow. fortunately for me Sammy got in his way (thanks Sammy) and after he bumped into her the bouncers finally took action and took him into the foyer bit of the Crown.

It was at this point that a couple of people started to leave so knowing that this guy was probably still sood outside I gave them warning. I needn't have bothered becasue to minutes later the guy walked back in and was staring at me. He then started talking to one of his mates whilst pointing at me. This was not a good sign. I knew then that I needed to get out, but he was right on the door which left me with limited options. Jon, Dougie and Saz had seen all this transpire so knew the predicament I was in and we came up with a plan to get me out. As soon as the guys back was turned I'd bolt and go staright to Dougie's car. He'd follow and drive me straight home. it wasn't the most soficticated of plans but hey it worked and I made it out. I'm just annoyed that it had to come to that and it really did spoil the evening.

On the lighter side of the news, after only a week I'm single again... hurray!

Hey there Ash, I had a good night at the crown! I hadn't been for God knows how long, and what can I say? A very interesting experience. Found myself "moshing"/"headbanging" while being filmed, which is a lil worrying, I also managed to get on the dance floor with Rich and Vasso to that amazing Rage Against The Machine song: 'Killing in the name' ---> 'Arrrrgh And now you do what they told ya' - I can feel myself burning up right now OUCH. It was weird hearing one of the bands play a Hanson track - thought I was in the wrong club! The last time I was in the Crown for a metal night, was almost 2 years ago with Rich, but there were so many people out this time, and the music was a lot more heavier than I remember.

Thank you for warning us about that crazy character, he came right in after you warned us, and we decided to leave, although that was partly due to Rich's new lady-friend. In a weird coincidence, my glasses broke half an hour before I came to the Crown, which was a bit of a pain but luckily had my dodgy old sports pair. Woo. Tiptoe-ing on the edge of geekyness at the Crown on a metal/rock night! Typical! :-)
